Everything a tired lawn needs, in one visit and at one price. We pull the cores first, seed into the open holes, then spread a quarter inch of screened compost over the whole lawn and brush it down into the canopy — so the seed lands in soil instead of on thatch and the compost drops into the holes instead of sitting on the surface. Doing it in that order is why it works, and it costs less than booking the two apart.

When we do it: Late August into October, while the soil is still warm enough to knit.
