Sunny Stripes is a family-run landscaping company in Sheboygan County. Mack owns it. Carl trims and edges while Mack mows, rides the zero-turn with him, hauls debris on cleanup days — and makes sure the work is done right and every customer is treated the way they should be.

The short version: he kept asking, we kept saying yes, and the neighbors kept calling.

Mack was six. He spent the winter getting up before school to shovel and snowblow for neighbors, and he kept asking what Carl actually did for work. He'd already decided he wanted to own a landscaping company someday — and eventually be a farmer.
We built the website together
Nights and weekends, the two of us put together the first version of sunnystripes.com. The name was Carl's old college nickname; the company was Mack's idea. It stuck.
First season
Weekly mowing with the striped finish we're named for, mulch and rock, edging, beds, cleanups. Mack learned that the job isn't the mowing — it's showing up, talking to people, and doing the work well. He knows every job by the homeowner's name, not the address.
His own trailer
Bought with what the business brought in, and empty the day it came home. The zero-turn, the STIHL rack, the blowers and the hand tools filled it in one job at a time — every piece of it earned.
Real prices online, seven days a week
Instant quotes for lawn care, topdressing, aeration, bulk materials and snow — so you can see a number in about a minute instead of waiting on a callback. Registered, insured and bonded in Carl's name because a seven-year-old can't sign a policy; owned by Mack in every way that counts. Carl's job on every visit: do the work next to him, and make sure it's done well and the customer is treated right.
